Southbroom Golf Club tees off for hospice
The south-westerly wind tested the golfers on the day.
There was quite a buzz at Southbroom Golf Club for the South Coast Hospice fundraiser. The course was in wonderful condition but the scores not outrageous as can sometimes be at a fundraiser.
Winners were Darran Ledden and Wolfgang Kanzler on 43 points, counting out Gavin Sole and Graham Sole, who in turn counted out Shaun Norris and Ollie Burnett.
Ladies winners were Irene Schanda and Shelley Myers on 38 points, counting out Julie Gerber and Lara Baldrey.
They in turn counted out Solange Fox and Anne Baldrey. Fourth place went to Jo Ledden and Linda Ledden on 36 points.
The 9-hole two player scramble last Sunday was won by Shaun and Jayden Norris on nett 19.
Jayden pivoted with Ollie Burnett for second place on nett 20.
Victor Phungula won the Chicken Run last Friday on 21 points, by three from Malcolm Greenland.
The previous Wednesday it was time for the annual Nationals vs Internationals.
In the ladies’ section Leny van Duijn and Louise Leal won on 41 points, with Precious Solgevik and Hannalore Kanzler runners-up on 39 points.
Overall, Nationals edged it by 237 points to 229 points.
The men’s section saw Eddie Geffen and Bob Carmichael in first place on 44 points, with Malcolm Greenland and Paul Dowdle next on 42 points.
