Cable thief suspect nabbed in Port Edward
The suspect is expected to appear in court soon.
A collaboration between the community and security forces, including Port Edward police, led to the arrest of a man who was seen carrying suspected stolen cables in Lagoon Drive in Munster recently.
Port Edward police said security guards chased two men who were carrying the cables.
“Security guards were able to apprehend one of the men, the other one ran into dense bush which made it difficult to catch him.
They took the man, believed to be 38 years old, to the Port Edward police station, and he was arrested while in possession of the cables.
A case has been opened at the Port Edward police station.
He is expected to appear in court soon.
The police said they have worked in partnership with community and security agencies to combat crime in the area and that this has yielded positive results.
