Safety awareness campaign boosts police visibility in Gamalakhe

Pamphlets on substance abuse as well as rural and personal safety were distributed.

An awareness campaign was held at Gamalakhe Lifestyle Centre on May 5.

Members of Saps Gamalakhe, Community Policing Forum, Community in Blue, and the Youth Desk embarked on the campaign to improve police visibility during disability pension pay-outs and to ensure the public felt safe and secure.

The public was also made aware of substance abuse, which can increase the potential for abuse and gender-based violence. Pamphlets on this subject as well as rural and personal safety were distributed.
