THE LSC 2-4-2 mixed pairs ended on a high note with the prize-giving at Port Edward Bowling Club last Friday.
Winners were Wayne and Gail Nikkelen-Kuyper (Scottburgh), followed by Piet and Amanda Stroebel (Wonderboom) and then Dave and Rae Barber (Riverside).
Daily sessions went to Pikkie and Elsabe Malan, Neels Boshoff and Pippa Rowney, Harold and Desirée Hide, and Gordon and Lexie Collins.
Special thanks to the sponsors and to all involved in the running, catering and greenkeeping in what is sure to become a favourite annual event.
The Tops Port Edward men’s pairs played last Sunday was won by Rod Phelps and Ron Camps.
Placed second were Brian Camps and Ally Weir and third, Ray Martin and Rob Lyle.
Final position on the ladder were top team Steve Rennie, second team Aubrey Hood and third team Ray Martin. The 50/50 board went to Ron Camps.
Final sponsored competition for the season is the Super Spar Port Edward drawn mixed fours next Wednesday (21st).
HIBBERDENE
THE last comp for the season played last Friday was won by Danie Human, Werner Mody and Judy Aiston.
Second were Arthur and Miriam Seager, ably assisted by Chris Snyman. Session prize to Albert Munnik, Richard Dunn and Gill Rule.

The Hibberdene team emerged victorious in the Umkomaas Sevens last weekend.
The players were Albert Munnik, Arthur Seager, John Hoyer, Rentie Stevens, with Miriam Seager, Alida Munnik, and Judy Aiston.

CHAIRMAN’S Cub two-bowl trips last Saturday was won by Eddie Louw, Mike Prinsloo and Hans van der Walt.
At the AGM, Martiens Olivier was elected as president and the same committee was re-elected for 2016/2017.
This was followed by the club competitions prize-giving and the day ended with a ‘Build a Burger’ braai.
Competition winners were: Novice singles – Hans van der Walt, men’s singles – Mike Prinsloo, women’s singles – Dora Vosloo.
Men’s handicap singles – Ralph Burls, women’s handicap singles – Anjie Gold.
Mixed drawn pairs – Brian Douthwaite and Olwen Gibbs, mixed nominated pairs – Kobie Stander and Martiens Olivier, nominated women’s pairs – Dora Vosloo and Helen Proctor.
Nominated men’s pairs – Brian Douthwaite and Martiens Olivier.
Most improved bowler – Hans van der Walt. Bowler of the year – Dora Vosloo.
Greens are closed for maintenance and will re-open on October 5.
NOMADS
A TOTAL of 24 members and eight visitors enjoyed the day at Margate CC despite the chilly weather.
Thanks to Orange River Wines for sponsorship. A warm welcome to new member Lindsey Humpheys from Munster.
First prize went to Sheena Absolom, Kobus Faber and Hans van der Walt. Runners-up were Graham Gold, Denise Brass and Johnny Louch.
Sportsman prize to Ria van Vuuren, Hans Hugo and Leonie Bloem. Nearest to the jack – Denise Brass. 50/50 to Manny Piquito.
Next outing is on October 9.
PORT EDWARD
CONGRATS to the women who won the ‘Men vs Women’ game last Saturday, sponsored by Roy McKenzie.

SOUTHBROOM
CONGRATS to all those who played in the Lower South Coast 2-4-2 tournament, from all accounts it was a great success.
The club had three pairs in the tournament, namely Heather Roberts and Malcolm Milne, Neels Boshoff and partner, Janet Larkins and Wynand Bezuidenhout.
Janet and Wynand won a session prize on the Friday. Organisers are hoping to extend the number of playing pairs to 60 next year.
The Tiago’s men’s trips are next Tuesday (20th), with the AGM next Friday (23rd) at 5pm.
SOUTHPORT
THE Inter-club Women’s Trips, played last Thursday, was won by The Bell with Umtentweni next.
Southport and Hibberdene could not match these strong clubs.
In the ‘Inter-club Cricket Match’, was played on Sunday, and Southport beat Umtentweni by 40 runs.
Top all-rounder was Johnny Meyer, while the best batsmen were Jane Massam and Astrid Jackson. Best bowler was Richard Cochman.
The Umtentweni president has threatened revenge when the return match is played on their home pitch.
The men’s fours Inter-club between Southport, Hibberdene, Margate and Riverside will be played all day today (15th).
Next up will be the South Coast Herald sponsored mixed 2-4-2 next Tuesday (20th), followed by the Dr D’Arcy men’s trips next Thursday (22nd).
TWENI
PETER Brewer and Eric Grierson won the South Coast Herald men’s pairs from John Mitchley and Bruce Hoyer.
Second session went to Brian Sapsford and Geoff Barbour.
The Schooners Restaurant mixed trips was won by Richard Cochman, Dumsani Madlala and Kitty Cochman, with Desiree and Barry Krause and Duncan Randall in second.
Second session went to Peter Browning, Astrid Jackson and Nellie Davies.
The ‘cricket’ game against Southport was won by Southport with a score of 390 runs to our 350, although we took many more wickets.
A correction on last week’s report. Peter Clark did exceptionally well in the Champion of Champions, winning the bronze medal.

VILLAGE
REG Sanders, Trevor Anderson and Roy Robertson won the Hibiscus Retirement Villages men’s trips, followed by Hans Hugo, Chris Allen and Manny Piquito.
Sessions went to Denzil Massyn, Gary Hess and Carl Volker and Alan Tyers, Brian Hughes and Bill Parfitt. Dave Garland won the 50/50.
The Hibiscus Insurance Brokers mixed trips was won by Annette Payne, Roy Robertson and Hein Bester.
Runners-up were Lucas Barnard, Marie Momple and Louise Mann.
Sessions went to Hans Hugo, Brian and Nancy Hughes, together with Gary Hess, Ali Mitchell and Dawn Oehley.
Dave Garland again won the 50/50. Hyundai tabs-in drawn mixed trips will take place this Saturday (17th).
