Shootout around the corner
Golfers are spoilt for choice at Southbroom, with plenty of competitions to enter.
THERE’S still time to enter the annual Southbroom International Shootout, sponsored by Applied Outsourcing.
It’s set to take place from February 10-12. Get you your friends together and join in for three days of fun team golf.
The executive committee for 2017 is Vic Pretorius (president), John Fox (chairman), Gerald Fitzgerald (captain), Don Osbourn (vice-captain), Russell Mackenzie, Cleve Walker and Phil Verwey, plus women’s captain Michelle Davies, Gavin Sole (manager) and Derek James (golf director).
Coming up this Friday (20th) is the Union Motors Business Day, followed by the Casa Toscana comp this Saturday (21st).
Jean Corfe and Mari Fielden won the Wednesday comp at Southbroom Golf Club last Wednesday on 46 points.
Runners-up were Jo Ledden and Helen Strong on 41 points. Third went to Candida Amm and Sandy Fitzgerald on 40 points.
In the men’s comp winners were Russell Mackenzie and John Fox on 48 points, edging out by one point Roger Hissey and Roy Deakins, as well as Geoff Skelton and Graham Volck.
Saturday’s comp was won by Liz Shaw, Lorna Johnson, Hannah Hierhold and Margi Sherratt on 88 points.
Runners-up were Jeanne Powell, Candida Amm, Michelle Davies and Sandy Fitzgerald on 86 points.
Third spot went to Jenny Holford, Janet Humphrey and Rene Matthew on 85 points.
The men’s alliance was won by Jonathan Shaw, Kerry Fielden, Gordon Moody and Brian Hoggart on 92 points.
Second were Art Germs, Roel Germs, George Haswell and Colin Steyn on 92 points.
Third were Colin McKay, Malcolm Greenland, Gary Purtell and Chris Poole on 91 points.
