PORT EDWARD
THE Wilcote mixed trips played on February 28 was won by Rod and Mary Phelps with Ally Weir. Barry Payn, Trevor Smith and Phillipa Rowney were runners-up and the session went to Gawie Bosman, Leoni Booth and Tommy Doubell. Francien van der Merwe won the board. Best of luck to Marianne van Buuren and Leoni Booth for their SA inter-districts competitions.

HIBBERDENE
THE drawn mixed trips sponsored by Tiago’s played last Friday was won by Roger Burwood, Silvia Pretorius and Joey Venter. Runners-up were Albert and Alida Munnik with Desire van den Berg. Session prize went to Eddie Milne, Werner Mody and Estelle Quinn.
Contrary to the Herald report last Thursday, there was only one men’s league, in which two teams from each club played each other.
The club hosted the KBA mixed pairs on Saturday. Spectators enjoyed the high standard of bowls played and thanks to those who assisted, lunch was a great success.
The next competition is the nominated mixed trips sponsored by Hibberdene Pharmacy.
SOUTHPORT
RICHARD and Kitty Cochman won the Fruit and Veg City pairs played on Tuesday 28th.

Members are advised that the ‘Cricket Match’ with Hibberdene will take place on Sunday, March 19.
VILLAGE
ALAN Tyers and Denise Palframan won the Hopdens Kwikspar mixed 2-4-2 from runners-up, John Sutton and Betty Bolton. Sessions went to David Slippers and Marion Robertson and to Carl Volker and Joan Tracey. 50/50 was won by Dave Slippers.
The next competition is Martin Electronics men’s 2-4-2 on Thursday, March 23 – please note changed date. Please enter names on the lists at the club or contact Hazel on 039 3125277.
The in-house Food Lover’s Market mixed trips was won by Denzil Massyn, Johan van Niekerk and Marie Momple followed by Dave Dawson, Dawn Ingle and Maureen Roach with Trevor Anderson, Betty Bolton and Bill Reed third.
Please note that our club will be hosting the interdistrict ‘B Sides’ championships so there will be no social bowls during the week March 13 to March 17.
BANNERS REST

The Tops Port Edward men’s pairs played on Sunday, March 5 was won by Glen Allen and Dice Graaff. Second were Dave Hume and Mac Mackenzie followed by Brian Camps and Ally Weir. The 50/50 board went to Rod Phelps.

TOMMIE and Louise Dry won the High Rock mixed pairs played on Wednesday, March 1.
Peter and Sariena Ziervogel were runners-up and the second session went to Penny and Aubrey Hood. Sergio Ruperto won the board.

The tabs-in Thursday competition on March 9 is a 4-3-2-1 competition. Members are reminded that, due to the inter-districts competitions taking place, there will be no tabs-in from Monday March 13 until Monday, March 20.
MARGATE COUNTRY CLUB
THE Hopdens Manaba KwikSpar open trips was won by Kobie Stander, Gae Gravell and Clive Edmundson with a score of 4+18. Runners-up were Maureen Jonker, Taubie Jonker and Rentie Stevens from Hibberdene with a score of 4+9. The session prize, on a shot count-out, went to Graham Gold, Anjie Gold and Marie Rogers with a score of 2+7. Georgie McKechnie won the 50/50.
The Hair Shoppe women’s fours winners were Pam Cole-Cook, Dora Vosloo, Vi Pels and Jo Olivier with a score of 22+20. Close runners-up were Gae Gravell, Barbara Gradwell, Helen Proctor and Chrissie Chancellor with a score of 20+20. The 50/50 draw was won by Norma Louw. Thanks to the greenkeepers for providing a magnificent surface for good bowls. Some say the best it’s been in a number of years.

Due to the inter-district matches being played during the week March 13 to March 17, the Engel & Volkers men’s fours league has been brought forward to the 10th.
PSCC
THE monthly competition sponsored by the South Coast Herald was won by Maureen Muller, J Theron, Pat Maggs and S van Niekerk on 116 points. Kobie Stander, Dora Vosloo, Caroline Harris and Winnie Hess were second on 112 points. The group voucher was won by Bez Bezuidenhout, Brian Pirie, Silvia Pirie and Bubbles Bezuidenhout. Eddie Fann did a sterling job with the greens and Saffron Chefs looked after the inner man.
The next playing of this event is Thursday, April 6.
In other news we congratulate Eddie Fann and Gill Thiele and Peter and Pat Maggs on winning their sections in the KBA mixed pairs last Saturday. They are wished good bowling in the play-offs and, who knows, maybe we will have an ‘all Sheppie’ final on Monday. So watch this space next week!
NOMADS
OUR next outing will be at Margate Country Club, this Sunday, March 12 at 8.30am for 9am. All bowlers are assured of a warm welcome.
There will be a bring and braai or you can order from the club’s kitchen menu.
