Southbroom golfers remember Roel

Prizes paid out to fifth on the day.

Southbroom Golf Club remembered one of its legendary members, the late Roel Germs, with the annual competition played in his honour.

It was held last Saturday and won by Johan Wentzel and Brian Jolliffe on 43 points.
There was a three-way tie on 42 points, with Cyprian Xolo and Simon Shusha second, counting out Werner Duggan and Christer Solgevik, who, in turn, counted out Malcolm Greenland and Phillip Verwey.

In fifth place were Gary Purtell and Nicky Smith.

The ladies’ Combined Stableford last Wednesday was won on 75 points by Sharon Turnbull-Jackson, Heleen Hissey, Michelle van der Hoek and Solange Fox.

Runners-up were Precious Mkhungo, Irene Schanda, Janet Lehmann and Anne Baldrey on 72 points.
The men’s competition was won on 81 points by Chris Miller, Vic Pretorius, Roger Hissey and Andrew Wager.
Runners-up were Bob Clark, Graham Volck, Gerald FitzGerald and Norman Jeffery on 78 points, edging out Werner Duggan, Christer Solgevik, Ralph Probst and Marius Santos.

The ladies’ Noelle Edwards trophy last Saturday was won by Michelle van der Hoek and Heleen Hissey on 41 points.

They counted out Solange Fox and Sharon Turnbull-Jackson.

In third place on 36 points were Jenny Brewis and Janet Lehmann.

Friday Chicken Run: Brian Jolliffe 18, Christer Solgevik 18, Eric van der Spuy 17, James Carlsen 16, Precious Mkhungo 16, Gjertrud Kok 16.
