Boet Stewart proves to be a true champion

Numerous prizes were presented on the day.

The South Coast Bass Association held its annual general meeting at Glenmore Ski-boat Club last Saturday.

For the sixth year in a row, Boet ‘Kokorotkop’ Stewart walked away with the lion’s share of the prizes, and once again, he was crowned club champion.

He caught the biggest bass of the year (3,4kg), had the heaviest bag of the year and was awarded life or honorary club membership for all his achievements and service to the club.

Club chairman Thys Hoffman was proud to announce that he has fished with many avid and professional anglers over the years, but he has never come across anyone with as much perseverance and dedication as Boet.

“He simply never gives up and deserves every prize and acknowledgement he has received,” he said.

In second place for the year was Freek Stander, with third place going to Thys.

These three anglers will be treated to a flip along the coast and over Oribi Gorge in Dave Kinsey’s Cessna 182.

This was a wonderful sponsorship from Dave, to whom club members say thank you.

Many other prizes were presented, amongst them the ‘Poephol’s Prize’, which went to Joggie de Winnaar, while the ‘Most Dedicated’ went to Cheryl de Winnaar for all her hard work.

The same committee was elected for the 2024 season with two new weighmasters.

The committee is Thys Hoffman (chairman), Freek Stander (vice-chairman), Joggie de Winnaar (secretary), Cheryl de Winnaar (treasurer), Freek Stander (head weight master), plus new weight masters Boet Stewart and Brian Steyn.

Following the AGM, the members and their spouses enjoyed a fantastic braai. The entire day proved a huge success.

The members thanked all sponsors for their generous donations. The anglers were really spoilt with all the wonderful prizes.

Tight lines for the new season.
