Trophy time for Precious

The course is looking magnificent at the moment.

Precious Mkhungo won the Cora Hicks trophy at Southbroom Golf Club last Wednesday on nett 67, four ahead of Heleen Hissey.

It means she gets her name on the honours board, which is always something special.

In third place was Jill O’Callaghan on nett 72, with Heather Anderson next on nett 73.

The men’s medal winner was Ulli Matzinger on nett 66.

The Stableford winner was Bob Carmichael on 38 points, followed by Jack van den Eijkel on 35 points and Rory O’Donnell on 34 points. Werner Duggan was fourth on 33 points.

Friday’s Nashua Oasis Business Day was played as an alliance with three scores to count, three on the par threes.

Winners were Piet Fourie, George Nagel, Werner de Beer and Kevin Oxenham on 95 points.

Runners-up were Tyler Townsett, Mike Wigs, Chad Fish and Sacha Demar on 94 points.

Third place went to Thami Xolo, Thabiso Ciliza, Precious Mkhungo and Nic Crossman on 92 points, with fourth going to Werner Duggan, Christer Solgevik, Jan Nqoko and Thulani Xolo on 91 points.

The annual Hadedas vs Swallows match always provides much fun and entertainment with the ‘migration’ of European golfers to our warmer climes.

It’s not quite winter here or summer there, so a good few are still about, which is fantastic.

The Hadedas (locals) won this time around, 418 to 390 points.

Winning pair was Stephen and Ruth Egbert on 43 points, counting out Gurney Mathews and Gavin Hitzeroth.

Four pairs carded 42 points, namely John Cheshire and Andrew Kramer, Ant Hughes and Erik van der Spuy, Johan Wentzel and Brian Jolliffe, Nic Dreyer and Sean Todd.
