Scottburgh athletes enjoy races in Amanzimtoti, Secunda

Interested runners are welcome to join the club.

Over 2000 runners and walkers took on this year’s Galleria Mall Challenge, which included members from the Scottburgh Athletics Club.

The event was held in Amanzimtoti on March 15, and gave participants options of a 21.1km half-marathon, a 10km race and a 5km fun walk.

The local athletes enjoyed the day out and said it was a fantastic event overall.

Scottburght members were also part of the Kosmos 3-in-1 challenge in Secunda, Mpumalanga on March 14.

This one-of-a-kind ultra-marathon divides 73.3km into three distinct races: A gruelling 42.2 km starting at 06:00, followed by a 21.1km at 13:00, and a final 10km at 17:00.

Whether athletes aimed to conquer the full 73.3km or select a distance that suited their fitness, the event offered flexibility and an intense test of endurance.

The Scotties athletes did well and look forward to taking on more challenging events this year.

The 42.2km race also served as a qualifier for the Comrades Marathon, making it a must-run for those looking to step up their game.
