Trophy Fighters take on Port Shepstone Country Club in cricket final

It's all to play for this Sunday, June 14.

Trophy Fighters lived up to their name in a final-over thriller, denying Knockouts a chance to play in the final.

In the second semi-final of the Southern KZN Autumn 100 cricket tournament, the Fighters won by six runs.

They batted first and made 115-9 on the tricky Port Shepstone CC pitch.

Abdullah Dhudhat and Yasin Gangat made valuable contributions, while Sahid, Ashraf and Altaaf were among the wickets.

In reply, Knockouts started well, thanks to Talha and Yakub, but once they were out, the batting collapsed.

Pick of the bowlers was Ahmed Nakhuda, with support from Asif Badat and of course Abdullah.

The earlier game saw Port Shepstone CC enjoy a surprisingly comfortable win over Vikings CC, a team that beat them in the pool stage.

Jayden Scholtz set things up for Sheppie with the bat, with Ashley Lombard chipping in as he does.

In reply, Matthew Malan fought bravely, but Sheppie’s spinners were too good, with last week’s hero Damion Bezuidenhout again among the wickets, taking 3-25 in his four overs.

The final will be played at Port Shepstone CC this Sunday, June 14 starting at 13:00.

Umpires will be Quinton Dunn and Rashied Gopaul, scorer André Ellapen.
