Port Shepstone volleyballers are KZN champs
Team Sideout Saints were crowned champions at the tournament in Tongaat.
Port Shepstone teams came home with pride, trophies and cash prizes from the KZN Open Volleyball Tournament and the Tongaat Volleyball Association Golden Jubilee held at the Tongaat Sports Centre recently.
Sideout Saints were crowned champions and Vortex took third position in the men’s division.
With 14 top teams battling it out, 10 men’s teams and four women’s teams, and R20,000 in prize money, the competition was fierce.
“Congratulations to our two Port Shepstone teams which didn’t disappoint. Team Sideout Saints were unstoppable and determined for an all out win. They played with power and precision throughout the tournament, took the top spot and won R5000 prize money,” said Port Shepstone Volleyball Association’s PRO Letitia Stoffels.
She added that Vortex showed grit, teamwork and pure Port Shepstone spirit. “Vortex fought hard through every set, secured third place and won R2000. To every player, coach, and supporter who repped for Port Shepstone in Tongaat, thank you. You made our town proud. Players played with passion, you played as a team, and you reminded KZN that Port Shepstone volleyball is a force to be reckoned with, ” said Letitia.
