Take a stand

Enforcement is a major problem.

EVERY year at the start of the `16 Days of Activism of No Violence Against Women and Children’ campaign, we are bombarded by a plethora of promises by politicians and frightening statistics from social workers.

According to a recent report more than half the women in Gauteng have experienced some form of domestic violence.

While the laws of the country have good intentions to protect women and children, the enforcement is a major problem.

We need to take a collective stand to stop all forms of abuse and those in power need to undertake deep introspection and acknowledge that they have failed the most vulnerable.
