SA Surfing Champs: East Londen Olympic qualifier surfer sets highest heat score on Day 2

Lots of surf action is happening at the St Mike's Beach this week. Join everyone this evening (Wednesday, May 17) in the Tidy Towns tent for the opening ceremony of the Tidy Towns South African Surf Championships.

Day 2 of the Tidy Towns SA Surfing Championships has been another superb day of surfing from athletes across the country.
So far, local charger Heather Clark of has made it through to the final on Sunday. Gary van Wieringen also of Ugu has made it to the semi-finals, which is taking place this aftenoon.
Zoë Steyn who hails from East London scored the highest heat total of the event so far… 8.50 plus 9.38 totaling 17.88.

According to Surfing South Africa she has grown up surfing Nahoon Reef from a young age.
The support from Buffalo City Surfriders as well as Olympic Coach – Greg Emslie has helped her achieve many accolades in her young competitive career.
Zoë has not one, but two South African championship titles under her belt, being the youngest women to win a SA Open Women’s title.
But Zoe’s talents don’t stop there. She has also dominated in her junior professional career owning multiple WSL JQS event titles.
Zoë has been selected to represent South Africa at the upcoming ISA World Surfing Games in El Salvador which is an Olympic qualifier event for Paris 2024.
