SPEED, smiles and school spirit spread throughout Kuswag Skool when it hosted its annual soap box cart race on August 29.

Three tracks spread out across the field saw thrills, spills and joy across all grades at the school as the enthusiastic and energetic children took to the field to prove their respective grades were the best.

The school’s Zetwee Hattingh said that while one learner steered, it was up to their fellow learners to propel them forward, and after each lap control of the wheel was exchanged so that each intrepid racer got a chance to test their mettle on track. On the sidelines, supportive parents, learners and school staff cheered the mini-motorsports racers on.

The Grade 7s were the overall winners of the event.

“It was a magical day and we would like to thank each and everyone involved,” said Hattingh.
