Rotary mentors tomorrow’s leaders

Motivational speakers assist in bringing out leadership potential and skills among pupils

THE Rotary Clubs of Isipingo, Prospecton and Amanzimtoti held their 31st annual Course for Leaders at Edu-Ventures’ Soula Camp in Stanger from Monday, 24 June to Sunday, 28 June.

Some 38 grade 11 pupils from different cross-sections of the community of South Durban were chosen to attend.

The Course for Leaders is an ongoing development project of Rotary International, which is run concurrently on an annual basis by Rotary Club of Isipingo, Prospecton and Amanzimtoti clubs. The course includes a number of challenging activities which are designed to bring out leadership potential and skills among pupils. Motivational speakers assist in this regard.

The activities were a resounding success. On the last day, Rotarians and sponsor, Nomali Msomi of Heartlands was on hand to observe the participants as they demonstrated their vision of the course in dramatic form. Feedback from the attendees was the week was a resounding success.

RYLA certificates were issued to pupils by visiting District Governor-elect, Greg Cryler of District 9370. The course ended with a braai, courtesy of Lydia of Edu-Ventures. The project was a success due to the hard work of the Rotarians Nad Naidoo of Toti and Phil Thornton, who now resides at Hillcrest.
