Tenpin lanes hum amid transplant games, inter-provincials

Most of the top bowlers in the country participated and numerous high scores were achieved.

DOLPHIN Bowl tenpin bowling has had an exceptionally busy time since 20 July, with first the inter-provincials being bowled from 20 to 27 July.

KZN, which had a disastrous tournament last year, turned their form around this year and took both the A division and silver gold medals for overall performance.

Total medals won were as follows:

A division: Out of 6 events, the men garnered four golds, one silver and a bronze. In addition the top bowler for the tournament was Guy Caminsky of KZN.

Among the women, they amassed four golds and one silver. In the silver division, out of four events, the mixed team garnered two golds and two silvers.

The second event taking place this past week was the World Transport Games, with teams from 51 countries participating in a variety of sports events including tenpin bowling. These were for the most part not serious tenpinners but all thoroughly enjoyed the competition and the facilities.

Notwithstanding the above Dolphin has run a full league programme over this period and several notable high games have been bowled. These include Dylan van Berkel 256, Andrew Cyster 244, Lino Pucillo 231 and the evergreen Spike Knowles 227. Among the women, Cheryl Hambrook 221 and Kimi Govender 202.

The May June swipe card was bowled on Sunday 04/08 and won by upcoming junior Jivi Sewcharan with a 203 average.

Upcoming events are the handicap matchplay, and entry forms are on the noticeboard. Get your names up as soon as possible, as the closing date is 11 August. Also diarise the monthly meat on Sunday, 25 August. Registration is at 9.30am for 10am.
