Isipingo crime syndicate netted

THE Umlazi cluster crime intelligence and the Durban Flying Squad nabbed a syndicate in the early hours of Wednesday, 14 August in connection with hijacking, house robberies and armed robberies which occurred in Isipingo in July.

Five people between the ages of 34 and 36 were arrested in Ntuzuma, Umlazi and KwaDabeka.

“At one house, the robbers stole R60,000, a Toyota Fortuner, a Kia Sonata, four cellphones and an amplifier. In a second incident they took a Toyota Fortuner, R7,000 and a plasma screen. The vehicles from both house robberies were recovered in Umlazi G section, where the suspects abandoned them after being chased by the police,” said KZN police media centre’s, Col Vincent Mdunge.

“During the early morning operation police also recovered eight cellphones, a laptop, plasma screen and a Z88 pistol which was taken from a police officer in Chatsworth. They will appear in Durban Magistrate’s Court on Friday, 16 August.”
