CCPO nabs burglars

A special operation to net housebreakers paid dividends for the Community Crime Prevention Organisation (CCPO) on Thursday, 3 October.

“On Thursday morning we received a call about housebreakers in Doonside,” said CCPO operations manager, Leon Joone. “A Blue Security officer went to investigate and saw housebreakers passing property over a fence next to Buzz’s Laundromat. When he confronted them, they fled.”

The officer gave chase and radioed Leon for assistance. “At the Seadonne Road off-ramp we caught and arrested three men. In the backseat of their vehicle we recovered an outboard motor for a boat, a high-pressure cleaner, car radios, clothing and tools.”

It was discovered the three men had broken into four vehicles and one garage at Sunsands flats. To gain entry to the property, they climbed over a fence topped with razor wire as well as an electrical fence.

“If the public sees anything suspicious, they must report it to the CPO immediately on 083-393-5066,” said Leon.
