Church gears up for annual craft fair

The area's many gifted crafters use the opportunity to exhibit and sell their creations.

THE Church of the Good Shepherd at 615 Kingsway, Athlone Park hosts its pre-Christmas art, crafts and hobbies fair which incorporates a car boot sale on Saturday, 2 November.

The area’s many gifted crafters use the opportunity to exhibit and sell their creations.

Some charity organisations and sister churches in the area also join in. Not only do they display and sell items they have created but have a morning of fellowship, making new friends and renewing friendships.

To date more than 178 different people have displayed their art and talents. Some sell their wares to help augment their income.

Whether you collect stamps, model aeroplanes, dolls, teaspoons, thimbles or maybe something really different, or are just creative and clever, exhibit your beautiful creations crafted by painting, sketching, carving, knitting, sewing, crocheting, embroidering, bead work, jewellery design, woodwork or children toys.

The area’s many talented bakers may also the fair as an opportunity to put their best creations forward.

Alternatively, clear out the unwanted bric-a brac lying around in your garage and sell it at the car boot sale.

The fair is also the perfect place to source that special gift for Christmas.

Tea and cake will be on sale in the tea garden, as well as bacon and egg breakfast rolls, curry and rice or Hawaiian chicken.

Art craft space is free, and the car boot space costs just R30.

To hire a table costs R50 which includes two chairs.
