Church hosts business breakfast
HIGHER Life Church hosted a business breakfast at the Moringa Conference Centre on 28 September, which was attended by some 40 people from the community.
Guest speaker, Pastor Joe Manyane Makua of Higher Life Church spoke on ‘from success to significance’ which was thought-provoking and inspiring.
A senior director of teaching and learning at Mangosuthu University of Technology, he founded Higher Life Church in 2011. He holds his services every Sunday morning at 10am at the Protea Hotel in Karridene.
His vision for the community is to teach people God’s word and to rise above limitations, live one’s purpose and achieve unlimited success. He has also facilitated many workshops for young people in lifeskills, business skills and entrepreneurship for non-profit organisation A Centre That Serves (ACTS).
“It has made a huge impact on the lives of youth resulting in some of them finding employment. Two groups have started their own small businesses in chicken farming and block making.
The target group was young people who are presently unemployed and are out of school. The rationale for this is that this group is often highly at risk and vulnerable to crime and preventable diseases. There is hope that much can be achieved by teaching people basic lifeskills to can empower them to rise above the cycle of dependence and become self-dependent,” said Carol van Zyl of Acts.
