Praise for Madiba

A litany of praise has been heaped on former president Nelson Mandela, who died on Thursday, 5 December, for his immense humanitarian effort in leading SA into a new democratic order.

“Nelson Mandela’s character was tempered and shaped by hardship, and his life continues to teach us that personal sacrifice, reconciliation and forgiveness are the paths to true greatness. It has been our privilege to experience his legacy, in South Africa and around the world.” CEO of Seed of Hope, Carl Waldron

“This country has lost a true humanitarian and the world a true icon – a man who can stand proud among the heroes of history.” Amanzimtoti Lions president, Ken Toward

“We find ourselves a nation united in grief as we mourn the loss of the greatest son of South Africa’s soil. It is with deep and profound sadness that we say ”Lala ngoxolo Tata. Asoze sikulibale (Rest in peace Tata, we will never forget you)”. We all belong to the South African family – a sense of belonging we owe to Madiba. Let that be his legacy. Through his humility, moral conviction and bold leadership, Madiba gave us a gift for which we, and successive generations, will be forever grateful. Let all South Africans join hands and celebrate his life – let us re-affirm his values and recapture his spirit in all we do.” Ward 97 councillor, Andre Beetge

“Madiba was and will always be a great asset to this country. He inspired peace here and around the world and I’m sure his legacy will continue. If you need a reason to make a difference, then ‘Do It for Madiba’. I hope that we, as a country, re-look at his vision and start being the South Africa that Madiba wanted us to be. RIP Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela.” Sapphire Coast Toti Tourism chairman, Jacques van Schalkwyk

“Madiba your heart was always with the children of this country. For this the Bobbi Bear team and children will always love and respect you. Your legend will forever live in the hearts of the Bobbi Bear team and children. On behalf of the children we serve, thank you for what you did and stood for, may you rest in peace”.
