Orphan family receive a new home
GETTING a new house had been a lifelong dream for a six-member family of orphans living in uMnini on the South Coast and the dream was realised when they received the keys to a new home on Thursday, 5 December.

Had it not been for the government grant collected by the eldest, 26-year-old Sithandiwe, the Ncwane family of orphans would most probably have slept on an empty stomach and in the streets. Since their parents died, the children, a mix of boys and girls, have relied on a foster care grant to rent a single room they shared.
Neighbours were unable to help this vulnerable family with food and other basic necessities.
In the true spirit of Operation Sukuma Sakhe (Let us rise and build), a government initiative that brings together various stakeholders operating under one roof to address urgent problems facing individual families, a collective effort resulted in giving these needy children a home.
MEC for Co-operative Governance and Traditional Affairs, under the leadership of MEC Nomusa Dube-Ncube, visited the Ncawanes with Metro FM and Chancellor House Investment to officially hand over a new house to this family. The newly built house has been a result of a partnership between the community, government, business, traditional leadership and civil society.
