Snapshots of yesteryear
Please send these to Megan at southcoastsun@dbn.caxton.co.za with a short description of the sights in the photo.

EDITOR – I have been living in the Amanzimtoti, Umbogintwini and Illovo Beach area for 46 years, since April 1968, when I was seven-years-old.
During the early years, my family frequented the Warner Beach Hotel and the hotel in Winkelspruit in Gordon Road, which I think was the Kingsburgh Hotel, mostly on Sunday evening when these hotels showed movies to local residents.
There were also other hotels that disappeared, like the World’s View Hotel, River Gardens, Lagoon and Beach Hotel and the hotel on Toti beach front, the Goodwill Hotel.
I recall the Goodwill and Worlds View were the first to go, then most likely the Warner Beach Hotel when the primary school was built. Kingsburgh Hotel was probably the next to follow.
My wife and I had our wedding reception in the Beach Hotel in 1986.
Would the Sun not be interested in featuring pictures of these places and similar from this era if possible? I do not appear to find anything on the internet.
It would be interesting for me personally as I would like to show my family some of the earlier days of the Toti and surrounding area.

Ed’s note: I appreciate the suggestion, and would gladly publish any photos that readers may still have of the old hotels that used to dot the landscape in the greater Toti area in the 60s and 70s.
