Rabies vaccine campaign comes to Upper South Coast

THE Durban State Vet's Office will hold its annual rabies vaccination campaign, free of charge in Toti and Umkomaas from Monday to Thursday, 10 to 13 March.

“Our aim is to eradicate this dread disease. Over the past two years, 40 dogs and one cat tested positive for rabies. A majority of them were owner dogs. A few were strays, but they had owners before they went astray. Members of the public who are bitten by an unvaccinated animal must seek immediate treatment, as there is no cure once one contracts the disease. The health of pets and animals depend on you vaccinating your dogs and cats against rabies,” said Durban State vet, Dr S Dhanilall.

Clinics will be held in the following areas:

Monday, 10 March:

* 8.30am to 9.30am, Arbour Crossing shopping centre in Oppenheimer Road.

* 10am to 11am, Athlone Park library, in the park opposite the library in Warner Road.

* 11.30am to 2pm, Amanzimtoti Civic Centre in Civic Road.

Tuesday, 11 March:

* 8.30am to 9.30am, Seadoone Mall parking lot in Seadoone Road.

* 10am to 11.30am, behind Kingsburgh library in Hall Road,Warner Beach.

* Noon to 1.30pm, Plowman Park playlot, opposite house number 76 Winifred Drive, St Winifreds.

Wednesday, 12 March:

* 8.30am to 9.30am, parking lot of supermarket at the old Illovo Sugar Mill.

* 10am to 11.30am, Pick n Pay shopping centre parking lot in Winklespruit.

* Noon to 1.30pm, opposite postal box clusters in Elizabeth Avenue, Illovo Beach.

Thursday, 13 March:

* 8.30am to 9.30am, park near municipal offices in Barrow Street, Umkomaas.

* 10am to 11am, Saiccor Village Centre, corner of Centre and Aquileia streets, off John’s Street.

* 11.30am to 12.30pm, Widenham traffic circle area, corner of Camborn and Widenham streets.

* 1pm to 2pm, Clansthal Caravan Park on the main road to Scottburgh.
