Hikers to explore Giba Gorge

This scenic hike takes in McIntosh Falls and the Umhlatuzana shelter.

DURBAN Ramblers Hiking Club will explore Giba Gorge over the weekend of 5 and 6 April.

Hike leader for the Saturday is Werner on 084-206-7836.

Hikers are to meet at Giba Gorge, which has an entrance fee of R15 per person. The hike is along the hilly terrain in Giba Gorge, and a shorter hike will be available. This is a strenuous hike over 12km.

On Sunday, 6 April, hike leaders Dave Tighe, who is available on 031-464-9247 or 076-028-0708, and co-leader Philip Swart on 031-465-2776 or 072-606-6599, will lead a combined Ramblers/Mountain Backpackers/Midlands Hiking Club hike. This scenic hike takes in McIntosh Falls and the Umhlatazana shelter. Hikers will meet at the Giba Gorge Mountain Bike Park, which has a R10 entrance fee. The hike starts at 8am and takes about four to five hours. Take water and snacks. Call Philip if you’re keen to join in. The moderate graded hike is over a distance of 12km.
