Two Isipingo businessmen were involved in a shoot-out with robbers on Tuesday, 1 April.
According to Isipingo SAPS, the two businessmen, who are brothers, had closed their business on Old Main Road, Isipingo at about 6.30pm and were walking to their vehicle parked on Jadwads Street, when they were approached by three armed men.
“They demanded money and the opened fire on the businessmen,” said Isipingo SAPS communication officer, Capt DM Ragavan. “One of the brothers was shot in the arm. The other brother then opened fire on the gunmen. One man was fatally wounded and died at the scene while the other two fled on foot.”
A firearm, with the serial number erased, was found in possession of the deceased.
“Robbers need to beware – the community is fed up with the robberies that are taking place in Isipingo and they will defend themselves at all cost,” said Capt Ragavan.
