Reef A cleans up 10-8 against Rouge

This was Warnadoone D’s first win for the season, with a jubilant 13-5 victory against the B team.

SAPPHIRE Coast pool league results from Wednesday, 2 April saw Reef A and Moulin Rouge A teams’ first round being clinched by Moulin Rouge, allowing for a one point loss.

Moulin Rouge A’s slackened pace allowed for an even second round but the third round brought them back on form.

Reef took no prisoners in the fourth round, making the singles scores even. Clint Mooiman and opponent Chris Kennedy each took three of their four games. The skill of the fourth round flowed into the doubles matches and Reef A cleaned up, beating Moulin Rouge A with a very close 10-8 win.

Ollies B versus Warnadoone A first round was taken by Ollies. Warnadoone came back, grabbing all four points in the second round. By the third round the scores were level. Being allowed to take only the last point in the third round left Ollies with a possible draw. Team mates Sheldon Birk and Alex Paterson and opponent Levin Poonan each took three of their four games. A technical white wash of Sheldon Birk and Alex Paterson against their opponents and the win of the last game allowed Warnadoone A to score a comfortable 11-7 victory.

Warnadoone B and Warnadoone D had played out evenly by the end of the second round. A 3-1 third round and full points for the fourth round gave the D team a six point lead. The D team continued their streak, winning the doubles games. Team mates Nico Botha, Gareth Smith and Nicole Winter, together with opponent Michelle Brooks each took three of their four games. This was Warnadoone D’s first win for the season, with a jubilant 13-5 victory against the B team.

Sapphire Cove B team fired away, taking all four points against Warnadoone C in the first round. In the second round Warnadoone C took two points and only one point in the fourth round, leaving Sapphire Cove with a six point lead. Sapphire Cove B’s Liza Vorster took a full house and Lenie Pretorius took three of her four games plus their doubles game. Warnadoone C gave Sapphire Coast B a glorious 12-6 win.

Unbeknownst at the time, Silver Dollar C clinched their game in the first round with their 3-1 lead.

Lizelle Zietsman and Tyrone Steenkamp each scored a full house. As all three other rounds ended in draws, the single point allowed to Boardroom B’s doubles game still allowed Silver Dollar C a satisfying 10-8 victory.
