Toti Lions inducts new president

Helping out in the community has been rewarding.

AMANZIMTOTI Lions Club has a new leader at the helm, Shayne Tocher who was inducted as president two weeks ago at a function at Lords and Legends.

Shayne who moved to Toti some eight years ago and joined the service organisation about two years ago.

“I was motivated to join because I wanted to help out in the community. So far, it has been rewarding.”

The club which currently has 10 members is involved in a myriad of projects despite the small numbers. “Besides our own projects, some of the organisations we assist are Jona Vaughan, Child Welfare, Jabulani Home for the Aged, Poinsettia Park Retirement Centre and orphanages, among others. Through our Operation Bright Sight project we have assisted members of the community acquire glasses and also those who need it, undergo cataract operations.”

One of Shayne’s focus for his term of office will be to grow membership. Those interested in joining the club can contact him on 083-306-9997. In his spare time, Shayne can be found on the bowling green at Toti Bowling Club. He also enjoys family time with partner, Debbie Caff and their six children.
