‎UPDATE: Teen thrown from train due for facial surgery

He will return to hospital on Wednesday, 25 June.

THE schoolboy who was stabbed and thrown off a moving train in Warner Beach by brazen criminals on Friday, 20 June was discharged from Prince Mshiyeni Hospital in Umlazi on Monday, 23 June. However, Siyabonga Masoko (14) will return to King Edward VIII Hospital on Wednesday, 25 June for further treatment, including surgery for facial injuries.

He was injured on his forehead, stitched and stabilised at Prince Mshiyeni. He is able to talk to us. As he needs surgery, he has to go to King Edward VIII,” said his father, Mr Masoko.

At the time of the incident, the teenager, a grade 10 pupil at Ezithokozisi High School, was on his way to visit his father on the South Coast. When he was accosted, the criminals demanded his cash and phone. As he did not want to hand over the cash, they took the phone and a bag containing a change of clothes. Mr Masoko will be opening a case at the police station today, Tuesday, 24 June.
