Concrete obstructs N2 freeway, damages cars

Fortunately no-one was injured.

THREE motorists struck a large concrete rock placed in the middle of the northbound lane of the N2 highway on Twini Hill in the early hours of Tuesday, 24 June.
Toti resident, Pinkie Mpofu was on the road at about 4.35am when she hit the obstacle. “It was impossible to avoid. It was placed in the middle of the road on a bend.”
Her car sustained damage to the front bumper and tyres and is currently being assessed for further damage at a garage.
Two other vehicles were also unable to avoid the barricade. A second vehicle damaged its petrol tank and all four tyres were damaged on a third vehicle. Fortunately no-one was injured.
Pinkie made three calls before police arrived. On the first two occasions, the call was dispatched to Isipingo SAPS. At first they refused to help, as the incident was out of their jurisdiction. On the third call she was put through to Toti, who responded and attended the scene.
Pinkie has opened a case at Isipingo SAPS.
