CPF to hold quarterly meeting with key roleplayers.

We must stand together in the fight against crime as a community.

EDITOR – Our quarterly/constitutional meeting which is to be convened on 13 October in the Amanzimtoti library activities room at 5pm, is going according to plan.

Invitations have been sent to NGOs, ward committees, municipality safer cities and security companies.

Of great importance is the attendance by the local prosecuting authority and the full complement of the SAPS management, sector commanders and the Metro Police to this meeting. This meeting is to deliberate on the crime trends in the SAPS Amanzimtoti geographical boundaries and a collective approach to address the issues.

The CPF executive in line with its mandate as prescribed in the Police Act of 1995 and its newly adopted Constitution is in the process of finalising the launch of community policing sub-forums which shall serve as the communication link between respective communities and the SAPS/sector commander.

It is worth mentioning that Amanzimtoti CPF is the only CPF in the cluster of eight SAPS stations currently in good standing and we pride ourselves with that accolade. We will not do any justice, if we don’t stress the importance of reporting crime directly the local SAPS station. As minor as it seems at the time, it does create a level of awareness of criminal activities in our station area and could assist somebody else of not being a victim of crime.

We must stand together in the fight against crime as a community. Crime directly and indirectly affects every citizen and we cannot emphasise the need to unite in the name of crime prevention.

To any interested organisation who might not have been identified or received an invitation to the meeting, may contact the CPF at amanzimtoticpf@gmail.com

To all the families that have been affected by crime and especially those who have paid the ultimate price through loss of life, the CPF executive extends its heartfelt condolences and we assure you, we will do all in our mandate to bring those responsible to book.

To the SAPS members, we salute your continued support in the community and we urge you not to be drawn down by a few individuals who wish to tarnish the image of the SAPS. Your hard work is

noted and appreciated.

Yours in partnering in policing
