Supper theatre ticket sales to help Emma
The tumour is being sent for further testing to two different labs.
Young Toti cancer sufferer, Emma went in for another brain operation last week, where the doctor managed to remove a ‘fair amount’ of the tumour, which was sent off for analysis.
“According to the doctor the surgery went as well as it could,” said Emma’s mother Tanya. “He removed as much of the tumour that he could see, without getting too close to vital nerves, as it had grown considerably.
Her shunt was also removed and she had a blood transfusion. The tumour is being sent for further testing to two different labs and a CT scan will be performed as soon as Emma is able to have one.”On Tuesday, 21 October the paediatrician started weaning her off the ventilator and decreased her morphine. “She is still heavily medicated, but she is slowly starting to move her limbs and breathe again on her own, but they want it to happen gradually.
They have also started feeding her a bottle, but through a tube.
Chest X-rays were done on Monday and Tuesday and her chest is quite clear and there are no infections.”
Emma’s family and friends made a supportive statement when they wrapped trees in pink over the weekend to raise awareness of cancer and the good work Khanya Hospice does.
