Toti RWFL tackles rough, tough Bluff Vets race

Wednesday or Thursday afternoon between 5pm and 6pm or call can contact Janine or Lee Williams on 073-271-1514.

THE runners and walkers from Amanzimtoti Run/Walk For Life (RWFL) made the trip to the Bluff to take part in the annual Bluff Athletics Club Veterans 15km and 21.1km event on Sunday.

Good times were posted by some of the top RWFL runners, like Warren Gibson who was the club's first finisher in the 21.1km in a good time of 1:35.

Second man home for RWFL was Edmond Luiz in a time of 1hr and 50 mins and Neil Tupper who ran a new personal best time of 2hrs 6 mins. In the women's 21.1km, Sphiwe Dludla finished in a time of 1hr 58 mins, a superb time for her considering this was certainly not a flat route.

The 15km route was just as testing and some members decided this would be their first attempt at a road race. Lee Williams and Annette Eagleton both finished their first race and looked like they will return for more in the near future.

Anyone interested in learning to run or walk for health and fitness is welcome to go down to Amanzimtoti High School grounds any Monday, Wednesday or Thursday afternoon between 5pm and 6pm or call can contact Janine or Lee Williams on 073-271-1514.
