Year of successes for Tale End Charity Shop
Funds raised via the sale of goods from the shop has resulted in 136 dogs and 38 cats being sterilised over a 12-month period.
IT has been a year of successes for Tale End Charity Shop in Iphala Centre Toti, the charity shop for animal welfare organisation, 4 Paws and a Tale Rescue.
It opened its doors on 1 February, 2014 and celebrated its first birthday this week. “We have gone from strength to strength. We have far exceeded any expectations and the public support has been phenomenal,” said Jacqueline Smith.
Funds raised via the sale of goods from the shop has resulted in 136 dogs and 38 cats being sterilised over a 12-month period.
“The community has been amazing, they have been either donated goods, dog and cat food or given us financial aid.” Partners at the shop are Jacqueline and Lorraine Brown, who along with manager, Gloria Holdane and a number of volunteers, see to the smooth-running.
“Our workload is constant, every day we are busy sorting, cleaning, washing, sewing and mending donated goods. Lorraine knits, crochets and revamps dolls. It’s a mammoth task keeping the shop in tip-top shape.”
Currently the store is need of linen and bric-a-brac in good condition.
For its birthday celebration, a special cake was made and donated by Viv Wallace of DG Creations.
The shop is open Monday to Fridays, from 8.30am to 4.30pm and 8.30am to noon on Saturday.
