Clubs gets crafty over breakfast

We appeal to the public to donate anything they may not want.

From humble beginnings of eight women meeting in a house, the Breakfast Club boasted 45 visitors at its latest meeting.

“The club was started in 2004 by Rosemary Turner, who emigrated to Australia, and Yvonne Robinson, who is still a member,” said Marie Bowker, who currently heads the club.

They meet once a month in the library activities room to enjoy a guest speaker and crafts.

“I run this club with one objective and that is for women to come through the front door, leaving their problems outside, for them to enjoy tea together, learn a craft and listen to a speaker sharing a testimony of faith and then to leave through the door feeling lighter, blessed and more prepared to deal with issues, knowing that they are not alone.

For the craft side we need demonstrators who are prepared to teach, while the club supplies the materials to be used.

We appeal to the public to donate anything they may not want, such as fabric, beads, sequins, paint or magazines.

There is no joining fee, but it’s a bring and share tea and the club asks for small donations toward purchasing materials for crafts. “Meetings start at 9.30am for 10am, with crafts from 11am to 12.30pm.
