Jabulani rejoices at fundraiser walk’s success

It exceeded its fundraising target.

THE residents of Jabulani Home for the Aged in Warner Beach thank the amazing community for reaching out to them at the Operation Jabulani Light walk in the park fundraiser at Hutchison Park on Sunday, 14 June.

“It was a beautiful day, with more than 200 people walking on the day, donating to Operation Jabulani Light and buying raffle tickets. People brought the most amazing assortment of lamps and batteries. Midas Amanzimtoti donated a box of small lamps and were thoughtful enough to include the batteries,” said chairman of Kingsburgh Welfare Organisation For The Aged, Mike Cank.

There were families walking together, some walking with their dogs, babies were being pushed in prams, it was a great day in the community and the support was overwhelming.

” A little girl, Gaby donated R20 of her birthday money because she wanted to help the old folk. A special thank you to Reena Solomon and Neil Fabricius assisted by Carol Lane for coming up with the idea and making it happen.”

Thanks were also extended to the South Coast Sun for coverage leading up to the event; Amanzimtoi Trader for fantastic internet coverage; Cathy Colley of Amanzimtoti Sports Centre for allowing the use of the venue; Claudine Farr for printing raffle sheets and posters; Power World and Pumps and Run Walk for Life for raffle prizes; all those who donated lucky draw gifts; the anonymous donations deposited into our bank account and the pancake lady.”

Due to the generous support, Jabulani has exceeded its fundraising target, with just over R16,000 of donations, with more still coming in. This will help pay for the fitting of the lamps onto the passage walls.

“All we can say is a humble thank you, you are all amazing.”
