Angelic young voice joins concert line-up

MUSIC lovers are in for a real treat on Sunday, 22 November, when two well known women – violinist Marianna Eriksen and pianist Rita de Klerk – perform in a concert at the Italian Club in Umkomaas.
Both have been playing since an early age.
Marianna’s parents were both professional musicians, and she began violin lessons at age six. She has performed with both Chamber and Symphony Orchestras in Moscow.
Rita showed unquestionable talent as a child, and after tutoring by some of the best musical teachers in the world, went on to complete her musical degrees in Tashkent, USSR. Her proficiency on the piano saw her perform solos with symphony orchestras, and complements Marianna’s talent perfectly.
This fundraiser for the Umkomaas Bowling Club will also feature three other talented performers. Many will know Dr Lennart Eriksson, who lives in Pennington. Although Lennart is a psychiatrist by profession, one of his favourite hobbies is playing the violin, and he has joined these two musicians in other local performances.
Young Sornia Kanfer is a pupil at Umkomaas Primary School, having recently moved to the area. She has been singing since she was seven, and after winning numerous talent shows, entered ‘South Africa’s Got Talent’, and reached the quarter finals. With a voice like an angel, she has just been accepted at Durban Trinity School of Music.
Also in the programme, although not a musician, is Claire Farrimond from Toti. Claire, a chiropractor, was introduced to the world of ballet only three years ago, and was immediately hooked. With her passion and hard work, she has shown that there is always an opportunity to learn something new.
This show will have you enthralled, so go along on Sunday, 22 November and spend an afternoon being swept away by the magic of beautiful, light music. Tickets cost R60 per person, and can be reserved by calling Marion on 039-973-1434, or purchased at the door. The doors open at 2pm and the show starts at 3pm. There is no reserved seating.
