Special guest to grace artists’ meeting

They will be creating a still life, learning several techniques.

ON Saturday, 16 April, artists attending the monthly Upper South Coast Art Association (USCAA) public meeting from 9am to 11.30am in Toti library’s activities room will be taught how to work in pastels and/or watercolour.

If you are keen on joining them, take along the following art supplies: Good quality paper and charcoal, some pastels and possibly a small set of watercolours, one thick and one thin brush. They will be creating a still life, learning several techniques. Everyone is invited to join in this session.

From 2pm to 4pm, there will be a demonstration by Shirley Howells, who has over the past 15 years won various awards. She exhibits her art in the Cape, Art in the Park and Hilton Arts Festival, among many other places. She has also been mentioned in articles in prestigious art magazines locally and internationally and Shirley will complete an oil painting which embraces her love for the more romantic path of portraits, florals, rustic landscapes and ramshackle buildings, and musicians.

It will be an honour for USCAA to have her present. The public is welcome to both these activities. A small charge will be levied for the demonstration.
