A fleeing robber was caught by a Blue Security and Community Crime Prevention Organisation (CCPO) response officer at Warner Beach railway station on Monday morning, 18 April.
“The man was being chased by a resident in Harcombe Road after he stole a bag of fishing gear,” said CCPO committee member, George Snodey. The robber was handed over to Toti SAPS.
On Sunday morning at about 6am, a man who had been stabbed in the shoulder was spotted by the CCPO walking towards Kingsburgh Clinic, covered in blood. He had been stabbed in the shoulder and had travelled from Illovo township to seek assistance.
The injured man was taken to Toti SAPS by the CCPO and Metro Police dog handlers Norman Payne and Heath Morison.
“The matter was reported to the police, but the informant was told to report the matter on his discharge from hospital,” said Major Zwane of the SAPS KZN media centre.
In a separate, unrelated incident, also on Sunday morning, Metro Police dog handlers Norman Payne and Heath Morison observed a suspicious VW Golf on the R603 travelling from Winklespruit towards Illovo township. When they attempted to pull the vehicle off, a chase ensued. The vehicle was stopped and the driver charged for a number of offenses at Toti SAPS.
Later the same morning, Metro Police found a burnt-out vehicle still smoldering on Old Main Road behind Shulton Park at about 10am. They established the vehicle had been hijacked in Berea on Saturday, and the driver had been murdered. His body was found under the Coedmore Road bridge in Bellair.
