Welfare hosts fire and safety workshop

The training was part of the crèches' development programmes,

Kingsburgh Child Welfare hosted an AECI-funded fire and safety workshop at its Warner Beach offices on Thursday, 12 May.

“Antoinette Meyer of Sapphire Life Training provided the training as part of crèches’ development programmes,” said senior social worker, Sandra Govender.

The programme dealt with the overall safety of children in a daycare facility and covered the following aspects:

* Basic first aid and how to help children.

* First aid kits and a checklist to make sure crèches have the required first aid kit.

* Compliancy with health and safety regulations.

* Different types of fire, fire extinguishers and ways to extinguish a fire.

* Children’s evacuation to an assembly point.

* Fire drills.

* What to do in times of emergency.
