Police spokesperson Warrant Officer Phumzile Ndlela said the walk started at Boxer Shopping Centre before proceeding to Mangamazini and Folweni sports grounds.
The walk was led by men from different sectors, including pastors, the local traditional council, SANTACO, the Department of Community Safety and Liaison, eThekwini Municipality and the Folweni Community Police Forum.
The walk ended at Red Cross Community Hall, where community members were addressed and encouraged to report all forms of gender-based violence. Men were also urged to report GBV-related cases, with the message emphasising that the issue affects both men and women.
“I strongly encourage victims of GBV cases not to withdraw their matters, even if they are pressured, frightened, emotionally overwhelmed, or uncertain about proceeding. Withdrawing a case can have serious consequences, as it may allow the cycle of abuse to continue and leave the perpetrator in a position to harm the same victim again or target others,” said Ndlela.
