A Malawian national was brutally assaulted by a gang of six men and left for dead near an undertaker’s premises in Isipingo Rail on Thursday, 22 September.
After assaulting the man with a knobkierrie, the gang allegedly dumped him on the ground and said “Welcome to Durban”.
They did not rob him, despite him offering them his cellphone.
“A client called our control room and the armed response units responded to the scene,” said Alpha Alarms communications officer, Krishnee Naidoo.
The 28-year-old victim currently resides in Isipingo Beach and was returning home via taxi after seeking herbal medication for an ailment.
Emergency services paramedics treated the man at the scene and transported him to a local hospital. SAPS also responded.
