Miss Sundowns KZN’s national title hopes on the rise

I'd rate my chances 10 out of 10, because a positive attitude is always your biggest motivator.

Ex-Kingsway High School pupil and current Miss Mamelodi Sundowns KZN, Lisanne Lazarus is vying for the national title.

At the national pageant, two women will represent their province at the final in January, where one entrant will be crowned Miss Mamelodi Sundowns SA.

“The process to enter the national title was quite simple but nerve-wracking like any competition is, especially when the stakes are so high,” said the 20-year-old.

“The first thing we had to do was fill in the online entry form which was accompanied by two pictures, as well as a video stating why you deserve to win.

A few of us were selected via the online process and we were called for the semi-final round held at the Palace Hotel.”

At the semi-finals, contenders were put through a series of auditions, including a bikini and introduction round, a Mamelodi Sundowns workshop and one-on-one interviews.

“I’d rate my chances 10 out of 10, because a positive attitude is always your biggest motivator and I believe that with my preparation, I will do well,” said Lisanne, who matriculated from Kingsway High School in 2013.

After school she studied journalism at the Durban University of Technology to pursue a career in broadcasting. She is the former Miss eThekwini 2014, Miss DUT 2015 and current Gateways Brand Ambassador. She was crowned Miss Mamelodi Sundowns KZN on 19 November. “Mamelodi Sundowns is more than a soccer team – it is the pulse of the community, so my duties are to embody that, never let the spirit of Ubuntu die, be an example of shining hope to my community through charity and always live the motto ‘the sky is the limit’. Miss SA is definitely where I’d like to be one day, and if God wills it, that will be a dream come true for me.

I was always a sporty, active person and I have a big heart for those less fortunate than I am.

Entering pageants is a way of using my talents and at the same time, making a difference to my community. I also find that pageants really bring out my confidence and charisma.

My hobbies include playing sport like golf and just enjoying the company of my friends and family.”
