15 scholars among 18 injured in M35 crash

Several ambulances called to assist with the multiple casualty scene as children, all under the age of 10 years, as well as three adults had been injured

Eighteen people including 15 school pupils on their way to school were injured just after 6am this morning on the M35 near KwaMakhutha.

Rescue Care paramedics found a taxi and three cars had collided on the busy road before the taxi overturned and came to rest on its side. Fifteen children, all under the age of 10 years, as well as three adults had been injured. More ambulances were called to assist with the multiple casualty scene.

Once all the injured were stabilised, they were transported to various Durban hospitals. One of the drivers sustained serious injuries and was stabilised by advanced life support paramedics before being transported to a nearby hospital.

The exact cause of the collision is unknown.
