Conference skills to aid Turning Point to help families

Turning Point is also concentrating on protecting children and helping with family issues.

Turning Point (Amanzimtoti Trauma Unit) staff members attended the I Matter Children and Family Workers Conference in Umhlanga on Saturday, 25 March.

Board member, Johnny Laidlaw, centre manager, Loraine Odendaal and volunteer Dulce del Valle attended the conference, which covered the following during the workshops:

  • Explore phases, which are time frames in a child’s life when you can leverage distinctive opportunities to influence their future.
  • Explore how to use dance and other creative arts to impact the lives of children by building their social and confidence skills.
  • Learn how children respond differently to their environments.
  • Explore how children and family work leaders do immeasurably more in ministries.
  • Learn how to work with refugees, adults with disabilities and vulnerable children to create a children and family ministry that is radically inclusive.

Turning Point are not only specialising in abusive relationships, but we are also concentrating on protecting children and helping with family issues,” said Loraine.
