School’s Warners sign revamp welcomed

We need this type of initiative from the community to uplift and reclaim our area.

An initiative by Warner Beach Prep and its principal, Kevin Maiden in tiling the Warner Beach sign at the Somerset Street and Gabriel Road intersection has been been applauded by ward 97 councillor, Andre Beetge.

“It looks absolutely awesome and I thank Mr Maiden and the school for taking the initiative to pave it over,” said Cllr Beetge.

“It has long been a thorn in our side to paint it over regularly at great cost as it has to be first cleaned.

We need this type of initiative from the community to uplift and reclaim our area.”

The councillor said the community-based workshop scheduled to take place at the scout hall was cancelled due to low attendance. The workshop will now take place at Doon Heights Primary School on the weekend of 22 and 23 April from 8.30am to 5pm.

“This type of community initiative, like the painting of the Warner Beach sign, will be discussed at the workshop,” said Cllr Beetge.

More information on the workshop will be published in next week’s Sun.
