Jewellery conmen netted in Isipingo high speed chase

The modus operandi of the fraudsters was to offer to buy gold jewellery at a good price.

Three jewellery fraudsters were arrested by Isipingo Beach CPF patrollers (IBCPF) and SAPS following a high speed chase through Prospecton on Thursday, 30 November.

The modus operandi of the fraudsters was to approach homes in Isipingo Beach during the day and offer to buy gold jewellery at a good price. The fraudsters would then flee after requesting the victim to hand over the jewellery on the pretense of assessing the value.

Several cases were brought to the attention of the IBCPF, where woman were robbed of their jewellery. The community is advised to be cautious and not entertain unknown people with valuable items.
