That’s a wrap on booming Toti SPCA festive season fundraiser

Wrapping stations set up at Galleria, Checkers Galleria, Checkers Seadoone and Pick n Pay Arbour Crossing were booming - some more than others - with locals and holidaymakers making use of the volunteer gift wrappers' service while they rushed to buy gifts.

THE gift-wrapping fundraising drive hosted by the SPCA over the festive season was deemed a greater success than usual.

Funds raised will assist the animal shelter in starting off its year on a less financially-strained note, enabling them to save, treat and home more previously-unwanted animals.

Wrapping stations set up at Galleria, Checkers Galleria, Checkers Seadoone and Pick n Pay Arbour Crossing were booming – some more than others – with locals and holidaymakers making use of the volunteer gift wrappers’ service while they rushed to buy gifts.

The breakdown for values made at each of the stores is as follows:
Galleria – R65,183
Checkers Galleria – R5,390
Checkers, Seadoone – R14,744
Pick n Pay, Arbours – R10,220

“On behalf of the committee, manager and staff of the Amanzimtoti SPCA I thank all those who contributed to the very successful Christmas wrapping season,” said Amanzimtoti SPCA chairman Alice Clarke.

“This is one of our most important ways of raising funds and the amount we made for the season exceeded our wildest expectations – a whopping R95,538. This figure was R24,406 more than in 2016.”

Amanzimtoti SPCA thanked all managers of the mentioned stores who allowed the shelter’s volunteers to wrap for their customers and the PROs who assisted in many ways.

“We were very blessed to have a team of volunteers who were wonderful in giving up their time and doing the wrapping for us,” said Alice. “You are too many to name but we thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Our wrapping season would not have been as successful as it was without you.”

The shelter is as grateful as ever to the public for giving so generously to its cause. “Your love of animals helps us help them and for this we thank you,” thanked Alice.
