Lions plan festive fleamarket for December
The stallholders sold anything from clothing, biscuits and cakes, beautiful macramé bags and pot holders, bric-a-brac, to exquisite cactus plants and a wide selection of interesting and useful items.
KINGSBURGH Lions Club’s first monthly fleamarket held at St Mary’s Church hall in Warner Beach was deemed a success and the focus now turns to the next market, which takes place on Saturday, 1 December at the same venue.
From November, the Kingsburgh Lions swapped their monthly car boot sales at Winklespruit Bowling Club for the fleamarket at the Warner Beach site, as it was felt that this venue is more central and accessible for stallholders and shoppers alike.

“The first fleamarket proved a great success and a rather festive occasion for the Lions, the church and stallholders. The stallholders sold anything from clothing, biscuits and cakes, beautiful macramé bags and pot holders, bric-a-brac, to exquisite cactus plants and a wide selection of interesting and useful items,” said the Lions’ Lynn Lyle.
“For hungry shoppers there were egg and bacon rolls, scrumptious vetkoek with tasty fillings, and pancakes. Cold drinks, tea and coffee were also on sale. With the onset of summer, the Lions are also considering selling ice cream.”
Lynn explained how energetic children, who were uninterested in shopping, were catered for with a jumping castle, where the youngsters could work off their boundless energy while their parents shopped in peace in the hall.

“As it was only the first fleamarket organised by the Lions, helpful shoppers and stallholders offered ideas to make the occasion even more festive. These ideas were most relevant, welcomed and will definitely be considered,” said Lynn.
If you missed this first market, the organisation has scheduled the next market will be held on Saturday, 1 December. Festively themed, the market will offer a great opportunity to get some Christmas shopping done at an affordable price before the rush begins at the malls.
Lynn explained that 16 tables have already been reserved by stallholders, leaving a few more available for those interested. The gates open at 7am and close at 11am. Parking, under the watchful eye of a car guard, is available on the Strelitzia Hall site, adjacent to the church.
